Activities and Events
Weekly Meetings
Held Wednesday mornings, drop in at any time between 10h-12h. All ages, all walks of life and all nationalities are welcome. Coffee, tea and biscuits are available. We pool ideas for activities and future plans. Get to meet new people who share the same concerns on how to resolve issues and to integrate into the local community. Whether you are living in France permanently or in your holiday home, you are welcome. Remember the first Wednesday in every month we are not here in the morning but have an evening social event instead.
Tennis
A group with varying abilities. Keen to play weekly on local municipal courts. The court charges are shared between the players on the day. Every Thursday afternoon in Le Dorat.
Golf
A group of men and women of varying abilities, we meet approximately fortnightly at the 9 hole course at Mortemart on a very informal basis every Tuesday afternoon.
Slimming
Small informal slimming group who meet weekly.
Lunch Group

Monthly visits to local cafés/restaurants to try our their “Menu du Jour”
Monthly Evenings

Doug and Roger dressed up as Batman and A Pirate of the Carribean, part of the Activity evening
Have included Cheese and Wine, Dessert and Coffee, Wine Tasting, Quiz Nights, Bourguignon supper, Games Evening, Bonfire Party and B.B.Q. Always held on the first Wednesday of every month from 20h.
Soirées
Two major soirées each year at the Salle des Fêtes in Darnac, in Spring and at Christmas. Events are well advertised and we have strong support from the local community. These evenings are themed e.g. Paella, Boeuf Bourguignon, Sounds and Tastes of Christmas. Always with lots of food and drink, singing, dancing and merry making.
Days out
We arrange regular days out, with shared transport, to interesting local places and further afield. Recent day trips have included – Rocamadour, Limoges, Confolens International Music Festival and various local music and food festivals.
Informal talks
Which give members relevant information on a variety of topics. With plenty of opportunities for questions to clarify issues. Recent talks have included –
Banking in France by Credit Agricole Tourism in the Limousin Legislation on Fosses Septique French Elections Making of the Lutterworth Millenium Tapestry French Wines (with tasting!)
Meeting with Veolia about the new fosse septique legislation
Food/Wine
It goes without saying that this is an important part of living in France. Melting Pot have arranged the following events –
Degustation of local products Wine Tasting Cheese and Wine B.B.Q’s Restaurant visits Picnics Bread and Pizza making in local Bread Oven Dessert and Coffee evening

Cookery course at local Chateau.
Sharing
Our regular Newsletter not only gives details of Melting Pot events but also of other local happenings. At meetings we share and exchange information. We have links with other groups e.g. local choirs, golfing groups, shooting etc.
Language
We aim to speak French for at least some of the time during our meetings. We have varying levels of competency ranging from advanced, to pretty good, to non-existent! We always aim to ensure that everybody is understood and are planning to start French lessons for members in September. We can also put you in touch with various and differing local French courses.
Our own French course for beginners has broken up for the summer, but will resume in September. New mwmbers are welcome.
